Workshop Delivery
The workshop breakdown
planit-sustainability is delivered as the core of a interactive Workshop, which covers all aspects of sustainable development using a range of non-computer activities as well as the learning-simulation itself.

After the opening presentation, the workshop moves into its first interactive phase. Individuals are asked to write one good and one bad issue to do with the local area on sticky notes. They are then encouraged to stick them into the appropriate area of the classic sustainable development Venn diagram. Once everyone has placed his or her sticky notes onto the board, a group discussion is facilitated. This provides a great indicator of the main local issues that concern the delegates and can be used by the facilitators to embed sustainable development principles throughout the workshop.
Playing the learning-simulation
The players are divided up into eight teams, each being responsible for the priorities, strategies and purchasing decisions of their building. The eight buildings are Housing & Regeneration, College, Primary Care Trust, Sports Community & Leisure, Town Hall, Utilities, Economic Development Partnership, and Transportation.
Decision making is important in Planit-sustainability
two people making decision
planit-sustainability encourages players to realise how decisions they make will affect social progress, the environment and natural resources, and economic growth and development.

Toolkits, Reviews and Action Plans
This element of the workshop is flexible to reflect the needs and interests of the organisations being trained. However from delivery of other projects it could offer a range of options including a generic example or a specific local case study, support to link in learning directly with the development, or review of a sustainable development strategy or action plan.

Follow up
Feedback forms will be collated by delegates and fed back to all delegates in the week following the workshops which also includes the team score attained against the regional objectives. From previous project delivery and experience this has been found to cement the training and prolong its effect in the minds of delegates. Approximately six months after the workshops we will monitor the long term impacts of the training via questionnaires or interviews which will form part of the overall evaluation of the project.
